#news Gavin Newsom's California to cut down 3,493 Blue Oak Tree's to clear the way for 3,000 acres of solar panels in the name of Climate Change
#california
Sacramento County has approved a massive solar project that will cut down thousands of trees that are centuries old, and bulldoze through native grasslands all in the name of 'saving the planet.'
#sacramento
The Coyote Creek Agrivoltaic Ranch Project was approved by county supervisors in November, even though the public overwhelmingly opposes it. Critics say this is an example of how Gov. Newsom and his administration prioritize green energy mandates over genuine conservation,
The site of the new Solar plant will be on 2,700 acres in eastern Sacramento County, between Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area and the Deer Creek Hills Preserve.
It's considered historic land that has some of California's last blue oak woodlands - that experts say is a 'vital ecosystem' that supports wildlife and eliminates carbon naturally.
Details of the plan"
3,493 mature and old-growth blue oak trees will be cut down, with the oldest tree estimated to be 850 years old
1,357 acres of native habitat will be destroyed, including grasslands that have rare wildflowers and are home to endangered species like the vernal pool fairy shrimp.
Vernal pools will be destroyed—Vernal pools are seasonal wetlands that are important for amphibians and migratory birds
The project will turn productive ranch land into an industrial solar farm that experts say will leak chemicals from the panels into the soil over time.
Officials say it will. generate up to 200 megawatts of power, enough for about 50,000 homes, lining up with Newsom's goal of 100% clean electricity by 2045.

Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin says the Justice Department is probing her over that November video telling troops they can refuse illegal orders… and she’s calling it intimidation, not law enforcement. Reporting says the request came from the office of D.C.’s U.S. attorney Jeanine Pirro, seeking an interview with Slotkin or her lawyer, while Pirro’s office won’t confirm or deny an investigation. The video also featured Sen. Mark Kelly and several House Democrats with military or intel backgrounds… and the blowback has been loud ever since Trump labeled it “seditious.”
