MI BOARD OF ED WANTS TO TEACH 3RD GRADERS TO ENGAGE IN SAFE SEX (8 AND 9 YR OLDS)

Michigan Rep. Jamie Thompson is criticizing the proposed Michigan Health Education Standards Framework (Resolution 195) at a Board of Education meeting, accusing SIECUS of promoting sex to 3rd graders by rejecting abstinence education.

Actual 3rd-grade standards in the draft framework address age-appropriate topics like puberty changes, personal hygiene, basic human reproduction, and HIV transmission prevention, without encouraging sexual activity or mandating comprehensive sex education.

This has sparked outrage with conservatives viewing updates as indoctrination.
