As President Trump’s August 1 tariff deadline arrives, he’s zeroing in on Canada—raising tariffs on Canadian imports from 25% to 35%, effective today, citing Canadian inaction on fentanyl and border security.
Other countries will get a an extra week grace period before new tariff rates up to 41% take effect. Canada, facing no last-minute deal, has been singled out for immediate tariffs while others receive delayed implementation.
