Bioweapon at the Border? Feds Say Chinese Student tied to UM Tried to Smuggle Pathogen into U.S.

In a story that should set off alarm bells nationwide, The Detroit News reports that a Chinese scholar at the University of Michigan is accused of trying to smuggle a biological pathogen into the U.S. This isn’t just a breach of academic protocol; it’s a national security threat.

Our universities, like the University of Michigan, are pillars of innovation and freedom. But when foreign nationals exploit these institutions to smuggle dangerous materials, it’s a direct assault on our nation’s safety. This incident isn’t isolated; it’s part of a broader pattern of espionage activities targeting our research and development sectors.

It’s high time we reevaluate our policies and enforce stricter vetting processes for foreign scholars. Protecting our nation’s security should be paramount, and we must ensure that our academic institutions are not unwitting conduits for foreign espionage.

Let’s not wait for a catastrophe to take action. Our borders, both physical and intellectual, need robust defense mechanisms. America’s safety and sovereignty depend on it.

Gotion is dead..

The state of Michigan has abandoned plans for a controversial EV-battery parts facility by Gotion Inc., citing mounting concerns over Chinese ties and local pushback.

The plant drew strong opposition from residents and officials who were troubled by the involvement of a Chinese-owned parent company and large tax incentives for the project.

With Michigan pulling out, the region loses expected job growth and investment tied to the project, and the controversy highlights broader tensions in U.S. industrial policy, supply-chain security, and foreign capital in critical manufacturing.

After TMZ claimed a top official said Trump was considering commuting Diddy’s sentence, a White House spokesperson fired back calling it “fake news,” saying the president alone decides pardons and there are no such plans.
